Life Goes On

Why do they tear our houses down?
Places known from old.
A little bit of History's there
How can they be so cold?

The mill down by the river
The barn out in the field.
The old house by the roadside
What stories they could yield.

The sound of laughter echoes there
Of happiness and tears.
Birth and death and times lived out
Are passed down through the years.

The farm house in the country
The old building in the town
Show a part of our heritage
How can they tear them down?

Progress comes to everything
Nothing ever lasts.
We need to save a little history
To remind us of our past.
