THE CHILD IN ME

I know that I appear to be strong,
As far as the eyes can see,

But somewhere deep inside my soul
There is a child in me.

We cannot run away from our past
Or pretend that the bruises
never did last.

So if sometimes I need a hug,
Like a child with a badly scraped knee ~

Please understand that I'm not that strong,
And be kind to the child in me.
